The speaker of the House of Commons to receive a yearly sum of 6,000l. payable out of the consolidated fund in lieu of fees, &c.

[1.] The speaker of the House of Commons for the time being shall be entitled to and shall have and receive the clear yearly sum of six thousand pounds; and the same shall be charged upon and made payable out of the consolidated fund of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and shall be paid quarterly and such payments shall be made out of the said consolidated fund, after paying, or reserving sufficient to pay, all such sum and sums of money as may have been directed, by any Act or Acts of Parliament passed previously to the said recited Act, to be paid out of the same, but with preference to all other payments which shall have been or may hereafter be charged upon or payable out of the said fund; and the receipt of the said speaker for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge for the same.
