Requisitions, notices, &c., to be in writing, &c., and how to be served.

85. All orders, permissions, notices, and documents issued or given by the Secretary of State for the purposes of this Act, and all notices under this Act, shall be in writing or print, or partly in writing and partly in print, and all notices and documents required by this Act to be served, given, or sent by, on, or to a Government inspector or Secretary of State may be sent by post, by a prepaid letter, and if sent by post shall be deemed to have been served, given, and received respectively at the time when the letter containing the same would be delivered in the ordinary course of post; and in proving such service, giving, or sending, it shall be sufficient to prove that the letter containing the notice was properly addressed and prepaid and put into the post.

All notices and documents directed by or required for the purposes of this Act to be given or sent to the Secretary of State shall, if sent to a Government inspector under this Act, be deemed to have been sent to the Secretary of State.

All notices and documents directed by or required for the purposes of this Act to be given or sent to a local authority may be sent, by post or otherwise, to the clerk or office of the local authority, or delivered to some person employed by them for the purposes of this Act.
