WHEREAS by Section 61 of the Electoral Act, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") the Franchise Resolutions adopted by the Provisional Parliament on the 19th day of September were confirmed; and the register in course of preparation under the said Resolutions was directed to be completed in accordance with the said Resolutions, save that the provisions of the Act relating among other things to the non-registration of and non-voting by members of any police force should apply to the aforesaid register: | ||
And whereas it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 62 of the Act that if any difficulty shall arise in the preparation of the said register under the said Section 61 and the said Resolutions, the Minister for Local Government may by order do any matter or thing which appears to him necessary for the proper preparation of such register: | ||
And whereas a difficulty has arisen in respect of the application to the said register of the said provisions of the Act, and it appears to Me necessary for the proper preparation of the aforesaid register to provide as hereinafter appearing: | ||
Now, therefore, I, the Minister for Local Government, do hereby order as follows in respect of the preparation of the said register:— | ||
1. A certificate of the Minister for Home Affairs that a person is a member of any police force on full pay shall be conclusive evidence of that fact. | ||
2. The name of any person so certified shall, if appearing in the Electors Lists as entitled to be registered, be expunged by the Registration Officer. | ||
3. A notice in the prescribed form shall be sent by the Registration Officer to any person whose name has been so expunged. | ||
4. This Order may be cited as the "Registration of Electors (Police) Order, 1923." | ||
