THE INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 25) WARRANT 1924, DATED 1st SEPTEMBER, 1924. | ||||||||
I, the Minister for Finance of the Irish Free State in exercise of all the powers now vested in me by the Post Office Acts, 1908 to 1920, the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 , the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924 , and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, do, by this Warrant, made on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (testified by his signing the same) order, direct, and declare as follows:— | ||||||||
(1) This warrant shall be read as one with the Inland Post Warrant, 1903, and all Warrants amending the same. | ||||||||
(2) (i) There shall be charged and paid on parcels the following rates of postage, that is to say:— | ||||||||
On every parcel not exceeding two pounds in weight, sixpence. | ||||||||
On every parcel exceeding two pounds and not exceeding five pounds, ninepence. | ||||||||
On every parcel exceeding five pounds and not exceeding eight pounds, one shilling. | ||||||||
On every parcel exceeding eight pounds and not exceeding eleven pounds, one shilling and threepence. | ||||||||
(ii) Except in the ease of— | ||||||||
(a) a parcel liable to Customs Duty. | ||||||||
(b) a parcel addressed to a Government Department or to an officer of a Government Department in his official capacity. | ||||||||
(c) a parcel the contents of which are not liable to Customs duty and are proved to the satisfaction of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs to have been been manufactured in Saorstát Eireann, and previously exported therefrom, subject in this case, however, to such regulations and limitations as the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs may prescribe; | ||||||||
there shall be charged on each incoming parcel received from Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man a Delivery Fee of sixpence. Such Delivery Fee shall be paid by the addressee in addition to any other charges payable on such parcel. | ||||||||
(3) On and from the date on which this Warrant comes into operation the Warrant mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be repealed to the extent mentioned in the third column of such schedule. Provided that— | ||||||||
(i) Where any provision of any Warrant not comprised in the said Schedule has been repealed by any Warrant hereby repealed, such repeal shall not be affected by the repeal effected by this Warrant. | ||||||||
(ii) The repeal by this Warrant or any Warrant shall not affect— | ||||||||
(a) anything done or suffered before this Warrant comes into operation; or | ||||||||
(b) any legal proceeding commenced before this Warrant comes into operation in pursuance of any Warrant hereby repealed, and any such legal proceeding may be carried on and completed as if this Warrant had not been made. | ||||||||
(4) This Warrant may be cited as "The Inland Post Amendment (No. 25) Warrant, 1924." | ||||||||
(5) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1924. | ||||||||
