THE EXPORTATION OF ANIMALS (FOOD AND WATER) ORDER, 1924.
|

The Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in them under the joint operation of the Agriculture and Technical Instruction (Ireland) Act, 1899, and of the Diseases of Animals Acts, 1894 to 1911, and of every other power enabling them in this behalf, do, with the concurrence of the Minister of Agriculture, hereby order :—

1 Food and Water to be Provided for all Animals during Detention.
|
1. Article 4 of the Exportation of Animals (Irish Free State) Order of 1923 is hereby revoked, and the following provision is substituted therefor :—

" 4. The owner or occupier of each approved place of inspection shall supply all animals undergoing detention in such place of inspection with a proper and sufficient quantity of suitable food and water, and shall provide and keep provided in the place of inspection such racks, troughs, or other receptacles as the Department consider necessary for ensuring the proper feeding and watering of each animal undergoing detention."

2 Offences and Proof.
|
2. If an animal remains without food or water in contravention of the foregoing provision of this Order, the owner or the occupier of the place of inspection shall be deemed guilty of an offence against the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, and it shall lie on him when charged to prove the proper and sufficient supply of food and water.

3 Detention in Cases of Contravention.
|
3. An Inspector of the Department may detain any animal in a place of inspection until he is satisfied that the animal has received food and water in accordance with this Order.
|
|
4 Interpretation.
|
4. In this Order " Department " means the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction.
|
|
5 Commencement.
|
5. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1924.
|
|
6 Short Title.
|
6. This Order may be cited as the Exportation of Animals (Food and Water) Order of 1924, and shall be read with the Exportation of Animals (Irish Free State) Order of 1923.
