THE PORTAL INSPECTION ORDER OF 1924.

(Dated 8th August, 1924).

The Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in them under the joint operation of the Agriculture and Technical Instruction (Ireland) Act, 1899, the Diseases of Animals Acts, 1894 to 1914, and of every other power enabling them in this behalf, do, with the concurrence of the Minister for Lands and Agriculture, hereby order :—

1 Places of Inspection.

1.—(i) At the ports mentioned in the First Schedule to this Order, the inspection of animals for exportation, which is required to be carried out under Article 3 of the Exportation of Animals (Irish Free State) Order of 1923, shall be made in the places described in that Schedule, respectively, and no other places shall be used for such inspection unless and until it is otherwise ordered.

(ii) The term " port " in the Exportation of Animals (Irish Free State) Order of 1923, shall be deemed to include any place described in the First Schedule to this Order ; and each such place shall be an approved place of inspection for the purposes of that Order.

2 Time of Inspection.

2. The inspection of animals intended for exportation shall take place between sunrise and sunset only ; provided that the period of inspection may from time to time be extended or otherwise altered for any particular port with the special consent of the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction, and subject to such conditions as may be prescribed in each case.

3 Revocation of Order.

3. The Order described in the Second Schedule to this Order is hereby, from and after the commencement of this Order, revoked so far as it affects the export of animals from a port or place in Saorstát Eireann.

4 Commencement.

4. This Order shall take effect from and immediately after the date hereof.

5 Short Title.

5. This Order may be cited as " The Portal Inspection Order of 1924."

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Port	Places of Inspection
Ballina.	The yard and pens, with paved floors, forming portion of premises belonging to the Moy Commissioners of Ballina, situated on the quay on the River Moy, near the town of Ballina.
Cork.	1. The yard, with paved floor, belonging to the City of Cork Steam Packet Company (Limited), situated in North East Ward, in the City of Cork, entered from Alfred Street, and having an exit at Penrose Quay.
	2. The yard, with tiled floor, belonging to the Clyde Shipping Company, Limited, situated in North East Ward, in the City of Cork, entered from MacCurtain Street, and having an exit at St. Patrick's Quay.
Drogheda.	The paved yards the property of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company, situated in St. Laurence's Gate Ward, Parish of St. Peter, and the Borough of Drogheda, described as follows :—
	No, 1, or " Gas Yard," with brick flooring, entered from Steam Packet Quay.
	No. 2, or " Large Inspection Yard " or " Brick Yard," with brick flooring, entered from Cross Street, leading from Back Strand to Steam Packet Quay, and opening into Steam Packet Quay.
	No. 3. Large yard, known as " Lower or Concrete Yard," with concrete flooring, and having an exit on to Steam Packet Quay.
Dublin.	1. The yard, with paved floor, in the occupation of the Dublin, Silloth and Isle of Man Steamers (William Sloan and Company), situated in the Custom House Docks, in the City of Dublin, entered from Commons Street, and having exit at Custom House Quay.
	2. The yard, with paved floor, belonging to the British and Irish Steam Packet Company, Limited, situated in the North Dock Ward, in the City of Dublin, entered from Mayor Street, and having exit at North Wall Quay.
	3. The yard, with paved floor, belonging to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company, situated in North Dock Ward, in the City of Dublin, entered from Upper Sheriff Street, and having exit leading to North Wall Quay.
	4. The yard, with paved floor, belonging to the Burns and Laird Lines (Limited), situated in North Dock Ward, in the City of Dublin, entered from Upper Mayor Street, and having exit at 72 North Wall Quay.
	5. The yard, with paved floor, belonging to the Burns and Laird Lines (Limited), situated in North Dock Ward, in the City of Dublin, having entrance and exit at 73 North Wall Quay.
	6. The yard, with concrete floor, known as the " Heysham Yard," belonging to the Burns and Laird Lines (Limited), situated in the North Dock Ward, in the City of Dublin, having entrance and exit at 8o North Wall Quay, and also entered from Upper Mayor Street (through G. & J. Burns' yard), and also having entrance at 73 North Wall Quay.
Dundalk	The paved and concrete portion of an enclosed yard, belonging to the Dundalk and Newry Steam Packet Company (Limited), situated at the Quay at Dundalk, entered from the public road leading to Soldier's Point, and having exit on the aforesaid quay.
Galway.	The yard and four pens, with earthen floors, the property of the Limerick Steamship Company, Limited, adjoining the dock in Galway City, having entrance and exit on the dock side.
Greenore	The yard and pens, with paved floors, at Greenore, belonging to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company, having entrance from the lines of railway at Greenore, and exits at the quay.
Limerick	The yard and pens, with paved floors, belonging to the Limerick Harbour Commissioners, situated in the Dock Ward, in the City of Limerick, having entrance and exit at Dock Road.
Rosslare	The yard, pens and covered pig sties, paved with fireclay brick, the property of the Great Southern and Western Railway Company, situated at Ballygeary (known as Rosslare Harbour).
Sligo	1. The yard and pens, with concrete floors, the property of the Sligo Harbour Commissioners, situated at the extreme end of the old quay at Sligo.
	2. The yard and pens, with concrete floors, the property of the Sligo Harbour Commissioners, situated on the old quay at Sligo, having entrance and exit on to the quay.
Waterford	1. The yard and pens, with concrete floors, belonging to the Great Western Railway Company (of England), situated in Tower Ward, in the City of Waterford, entered from Marble Lane, and having exit at Adelphi Wharf.
	2. The yard and pens, with paved and concrete floors, belonging to Clyde Shipping Company (Limited), situated in Tower Ward, in the City of Waterford, entered from Rose Lane, and having exits at Adelphi Wharf and Marble Lane.
Westport	The yards and pens, with concrete floors, the property of the Harbour Commissioners at Westport, situated at the quay at Westport.
Wexford	The yard and pens, with paved floors, in the occupation of the City of Cork Steam Packet Company, Cork, situated at Redmond Place, in the town of Wexford.
