Regulations made by the Irish Insurance Commissioners with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health under the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911-1929. | ||

The Irish Insurance Commissioners in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1929, and of all and every other power enabling them in that behalf, do hereby, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, make the following Regulations:— 1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Amendment Regulations, 1930, and shall be read as one with the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1929. | ||
(2) In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires:— | ||
"The Acts" means the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911-1929; | ||
"The Act of 1918" means the National Health Insurance Act, 1918; and | ||
"The Act of 1929" means the National Health Insurance Act, 1929 (No. 42 of 1929). | ||
(3) The Interpretation Act, 1889, as modified and adapted by or under the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 (No. 2 of 1922) applies to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas. 2.—Article 7 of the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918, is hereby revoked. 3.—For the purposes of Section 8 (1) of the Act of 1929, the prescribed time for joining an Approved Society shall be:— | ||
(a) in the case of a person who enters into insurance as an employed contributor, any time before the 1st day of April or the 1st day of October first occurring after the end of the half-year in which he enters into insurance; | ||
(b) in the case of a person Who enters into insurance as a voluntary contributor, any time before the date of his entry into insurance; | ||
(c) in the case of a person who being a member of an Approved Society in Great Britain or Northern Ireland or of the Manx Health Insurance Society is or becomes resident and employed in Saorstát Eireann, any time before the 1st day of April or the 1st day of October first occurring after the end of the half-year in which his membership of the said Approved Society or of the Manx Health Insurance Society has been terminated; | ||
(d) in the case of a person who being insured in Great Britain or Northern Ireland as a deposit contributor, is or becomes resident and employed in Saorstát Eireann, any time before the 1st day of April or the 1st day of October first occurring after the end of the half-year in which he becomes so resident and employed; | ||
Provided that: | ||
in the case of any person to whom paragraph (a) of this Article applies who enters into insurance on becoming employed as a master, seaman or apprentice on a foreign-going ship or a ship engaged in regular trade on foreign stations, or who becomes employed as a master, seaman or apprentice on any such ship as aforesaid within three months after his entry into insurance as an employed contributor, the time allowed for joining a Society shall be the time in paragraph (a) of this Article or the period between the date of entry into insurance and the expiration of three months after the termination of the voyage made by him on such ship as aforesaid which first terminates after his entry into insurance, whichever is the longer. | ||
4.—For the purposes of sub-section (3) and (4) of Section 13 of the Act of 1929, the prescribed time for joining an Approved Society in the case of a person to whom that Section applies, shall be any time before the expiration of the period after his discharge from the Armed Forces of Saorstát Eireann during which he is entitled to remain an insured person under Section 13 of the Act of 1918, subject to the proviso that if he resumes insurable employment during such period as aforesaid, the prescribed time shall be any time within six months from the date on which he so resumes insurable employment | ||
