Jurisdiction of the District Court. |
3.—(1) The District Court shall have and may exercise jurisdiction in the case of a felony or any other offence under section 16 of the Principal Act as if such felony or other offence were included amongst the cases specifically mentioned in sub-section B of section 77 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1924 (No. 10 of 1924). | |
(2) Where the District Court, in exercise of the jurisdiction conferred by this section, disposes of a case summarily the punishment which may be inflicted shall, notwithstanding anything contained in the said sub-section B of the said section 77, be imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months or, at the discretion of the Court, a fine not exceeding fifty pounds. | ||
(3) Section 17 of the Principal Act shall not apply to any fine imposed by the District Court in exercise of the jurisdiction conferred by this section. |
