STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1938. No. 134.

TOTALISATOR (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Totalisator Act, 1929 (No. 22 of 1929), that the Minister for Finance may by order make regulations for controlling and regulating the setting up, maintenance and working of totalisators under totalisator licences :

AND WHEREAS the Totalisator Regulations, 1930, and the Totalisator (Double Event) Regulations, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 26 of 1936), were made by the Minister for Finance under the power conferred on him by the said sub-section :

NOW, The Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub section (1) of section 6 of the Totalisator Act, 1929 (No. 22 of 1929), and of any and every other power him in this behalf enabling, by this Order, makes the following regulations, that is to say :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Totalisator (Amendment) Regulations, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. In these Regulations—

the expression "the Regulations of 1930" means the Totalisator Regulations, 1930,

the expression "the Regulations of 1935" means the Totalisator (Double Event) Regulations, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 26 of 1936),

the expression "the licensees" means the persons licensed under the Totalisator Act, 1929 (No. 22 of 1929), to set up, maintain and work a totalisator.

4. A totalisator ticket may, in lieu of the date and place of issue thereof required to be stated thereon by Article 11 of the Regulations of 1930, have written thereon a code word composed of not less than four letters, to signify the date and place of issue thereof.

5. A totalisator ticket for staking on a double event may, in lieu of the date and place of issue thereof required to be stated thereon by Article 6 of the Regulations of 1935, have written thereon a code word composed of not less than four letters, to signify the date and place of issue thereof.

6. The licensees of any totalisator shall, whenever they are required so to do, furnish to the Revenue Commissioners particulars of any code words used by them under these Regulations, and of the dates and places of issue signified by such code words.

7. Article 14 of the Regulations of 1930 is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "three months" now contained therein, and the substitution in lieu thereof of the words "one month", and the said Article shall be construed and have effect accordingly.
