DETAINED ANIMALS (COMPENSATION FOR DEPRECIATION) REGULATIONS, 1938. | ||
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Slaughtered and Detained Animals (Compensation) Act, 1938 (No. 22 of 1938), that the Minister for Agriculture may, after consultation with the National Executive of the Irish Live Stock Trade, make regulations (in the said Act referred to as the detained animals (compensation for depreciation) regulation) fixing the rates at which compensation under the said Act (other than compensation in respect of the death of live stock) is to be paid, and may by such regulations fix different rates in respect of different kinds (defined in such manner and by reference to such things as the Minister thinks proper) of live stock : | ||
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the Slaughtered and Detained Animals (Compensation) Act, 1938 (No. 22 of 1938), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling do hereby, after consultation with the National Executive the Irish Live Stock Trade, make the following regulations :— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Detained Animals (Compensation for Depreciation) Regulations, 1938. 2. The compensation to be paid under sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Slaughtered and Detained Animals (Compensation) Act, 1938 , in respect of depreciation due to the detention of any live stock at any British landing place for a period (in this Regulation referred to as the additional period) beyond the normal period shall be as follows :— | ||
(a) in the case of milch cows and springers which calve during the normal period or the additional period— | ||
(i) if the additional period does not exceed twenty-nine days, at the rate of seven shillings and six pence per head for each day of the additional period, | ||
(ii) if the additional period exceeds twenty-nine days, at the rate of eleven pounds and five shillings per head ; | ||
(b) in the case of other cattle— | ||
(i) if the additional period does not exceed nine days, at the rate of four shillings per head for each day of the additional period, | ||
(ii) if the additional period exceeds nine days, at the rate of two pounds per head; | ||
(c) in the case of sheep and lambs— | ||
(i) if the additional period does not exceed four days, at the rate of two shillings per day for each day of the additional period, | ||
(ii) if the additional period exceeds four days, at the rate of ten shillings per head ; | ||
(d) in the case of pigs— | ||
(i) if the additional period does not exceed thirteen days, at the rate of two shillings per day for each day of the additional period, | ||
(ii) if the additional period exceeds thirteen days, at the rate of one pound and eight shillings per head. | ||
