WHALE FISHERIES ACT, 1937. FISHERIES ACTS, 1842 TO 1937. BY-LAW No. W.F.4. | ||
WHALING : OPERATIONS. | ||
I, Séamas Ó Riain, Minister for Agriculture, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me by the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 (No. 4 of 1937), and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, do make and ordain the following By-law :— | ||
(1) In addition to the requirements of section 16, sub-section (1), of the Whale Fisheries Act, 1937 , the oil shall be extracted by boiling or otherwise from all the meat of whales treated in any factory ship licensed under the said Act (other than the meat of Sperm whales) and from the bones ; but this shall not apply to the internal organs, whalebone or flippers, or to any part of a whale intended for human food or for feeding animals. | ||
(2) The taking of whales for delivery to any factory ship licensed under the said Act shall be so regulated or restricted by the master or person in charge of such factory ship that no carcase of any whale delivered for treatment to such factory ship shall remain in the sea for a longer period than thirty-three hours from the time such whale is killed to the time such whale is taken on to the deck of such factory ship for treatment. | ||
(3) The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this By-law. | ||
(4) The Whale Fisheries By-law No. W.F.2, 1937, is hereby revoked. | ||
(5) This By-law may be cited as the Whale Fisheries By-law No. W.F.4, 1938. | ||
