COUNTY DONEGAL RAILWAYS (STRANORLAR-GLENTIES) REDUCTION OF RAILWAY SERVICES ORDER, 1947.

WHEREAS the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee has made application on the 28th day of December, 1945, to the Minister for Industry and Commerce for an order authorising the said committee to reduce the service of trains run at the said date over the section of railway line between Stranorlar and Glenties operated by the said committee :

AND WHEREAS the said Minister is satisfied that the said committee has lawful authority to carry on a road transport service affording to the public transport facilities constituting (for the purposes of the traffic carried by the railway services authorised by this Order to be discontinued) an adequate substitute for those services, and that the said Committee has given sufficient public notice of the establishment or intention to establish such road transport service :

NOW, I, SEAN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9 of the Railways Act, 1933 (No. 9 of 1933), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the County Donegal Railways (Stranorlar-Glenties) Reduction of Railway Services Order, 1947.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 8th day of December, 1947.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The County Donegal Railways Joint Committee is hereby authorised, notwithstanding any statutory, contractual or other obligation to the contrary, to reduce the service of trains run on the 28th day of December, 1945, by the said committee over the railway line between Stranorlar and Glenties operated by the said committee, in the manner and to the extent following—by ceasing to run the service of trains run at the said date by the said committee over the said railway line except trains for the carrying of fuel, bog ore or livestock.
