MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH SERVICE (TEMPORARY) REGULATIONS, 1948.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 28 of the Health Act, 1947 , hereby makes the following Regulations, that is to say :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Mother and Child Health Service (Temporary) Regulations, 1948.

2. In this Order—

the expression " the Minister " means the Minister for Health :

the expression " the Act of 1915 " means the Notification of Births (Extension) Act, 1915, as amended by the Maternity and Child Welfare Act, 1918 ; and

the expression " the Act of 1919 " means the Public Health (Medical Treatment of Children) (Ireland) Act, 1919.

3. As from 1st April, 1948, such arrangements as regards Maternity and Child Welfare Schemes under the Act of 1915 and as regards School Medical Service Schemes under the Act of 1919 as may have existed up to the 31st March, 1948, in the functional area of a health authority shall be continued in force by such health authority.

4. As from the 1st April, 1948, a health authority, may, subject to the approval of the Minister, make any such arrangements in respect of their functional area as could have been made by County Councils, County Borough Councils and Urban District Councils under the Act of 1915 or the Act of 1919.
