SULTANAS AND CURRANTS (MAXIMUM PRICES) ORDER, 1948.

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939) as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946) as amended by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Act, 1947 (No. 39 of 1947)) and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Sultanas and Currants (Maximum Prices) Order, 1948.

2. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

3. For the purposes of this Order any fraction of a halfpenny shall be regarded as one halfpenny.

4. On and after the 18th day of September, 1948, no person shall sell currants at a price exceeding a price calculated at whichever of the following rates is appropriate :—

(a) when sold by wholesale—107/4d. per cwt. free on rail

(b) when sold by retail—1/3d. per lb.

5.—(1) During the period from the 18th day of September, 1948 to the 30th day of September, 1948, no person shall sell sultanas at a price exceeding a price calculated at whichever of the following rates is appropriate :—

(a) when sold by wholesale—123/8d. per cwt. free on rail ;

(b) when sold by retail—1/5d. per lb.

(2) On and after the 1st day of October, 1948, no person shall sell sultanas at a price exceeding a price calculated at whichever of the following rates is appropriate :—

(a) when sold by wholesale—107/4 per cwt. free on rail ;

(b) when sold by retail—1/3d. per lb.

6. The Raisins and Currants (Maximum Prices) (No. 2) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 221 of 1947 ) is hereby revoked.
