WHEAT AND FLOUR (TRANSFER OF MINISTERIAL FUNCTIONS) ORDER, 1951. | ||
The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (1) of section 6 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling hereby order as follows :— 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Wheat and Flour (Transfer of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1951. | ||
(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1951. 2. In this Order the word " functions " includes powers and duties. 3. The administration and business in connection with the exercise, performance or execution of the functions transferred by this Order are hereby transferred to the Department of Industry and Commerce. 4. The functions of the Minister for Agriculture in connection with : | ||
(a) the procurement of wheat from abroad, including in particular | ||
(i) the examination of the stock position and the determination of quantities required for importation through Grain Importers (Éire) Limited, | ||
(ii) the examination of allocations which may be offered and the making of representations to foreign Governments in order to secure supplies, | ||
(iii) matters arising out of the State's membership of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the International Wheat Council, and matters relating to proposals for an international wheat agreement ; and | ||
(b) the flour subsidy and the making available of grist to millers, | ||
are hereby transferred to the Minister for Industry and Commerce. 5. References to the Minister for Agriculture in the Flour, Wheatenmeal and Bread Orders, 1949 to 1951, shall be construed as references to the Minister for Industry and Commerce. 6. The Agriculture (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (Wheat and Flour Subsidy) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 78 of 1949 ), is hereby revoked. | ||
