IMPORTATION OF KNITTED WOOLLEN WEARING APPAREL ORDER, 1952. | ||
The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O., No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O., No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Knitted Woollen Wearing Apparel Order, 1952. 2. In this Order, the expression " the Minister " means the Minister for Industry and Commerce. 3. On and after the 29th day of April, 1952, no person shall import any article of a description specified in the Schedule hereto unless— | ||
(a) he is the holder of an import licence, and | ||
(b) such article is imported under and in accordance with such licence, and | ||
(c) such licence is at the time of importation produced to the proper officer of Customs and Excise. 4.—(1) Any person may from time to time apply to the Minister for a licence (in this Order referred to as an import licence) authorising him to import during a specified period a specified quantity of any article of a description specified in the Schedule hereto, and every such application shall— | ||
(a) be in writing and in such form as the Minister may direct, | ||
(b) be sent to the Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce, Dublin. | ||
(2) On receipt of an application, duly made in accordance with paragraph (1) of this Article, for an import licence, the Minister may, in his discretion, grant or refuse the application. | ||
SCHEDULE. | ||
Articles of personal clothing or wearing apparel of the following descriptions which are made wholly or mainly of wool and which are wholly or mainly knitted or which are made of knitted fabric— | ||
(a) Hose and half-hose. | ||
(b) Undergarments (excluding shirts and collars). | ||
(c) Cardigans, pullovers, jerseys, blouses and similar articles. | ||
(d) Gloves. | ||
