EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 327) (MATCHES) ORDER, 1954.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 327) (Matches) Order, 1954.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The duty of excise imposed by subsection (2) of section 4 of the Finance Act, 1945 (No. 20 of 1945), shall, in respect of matches chargeable with that duty, be charged, levied and paid, as on and from the date of this Order, at the several rates specified in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE.

EXCISE DUTIES ON MATHES.

Containing more than 10 but not more than 20 matches. Per 1,000 containers	0	15	8
Containing more than 20 but not more than 50 matches. Per gross (144) containers	0	5	9
Containing more than 50 but not more than 75 matches. Per gross (144) containers	0	8	8
For every additional 25 or Part of 25 matches over 75. Per gross (144) containers	0	2	0
and so in proportion for any less quantity of containers.
