S.I. No. 90 of 1954.

LABOURERS ORDER, 1954.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 31 of the Labourers (Ireland) Act, 1906, after consultation with the President of the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, hereby orders as follows :

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Labourers Order, 1954.

(2) This Order shall be read and construed as one with the Labourers (Ireland) Orders, 1912 and 1914.

2. Paragraph (4) of Rule 52 of the Labourers (Ireland) Order, 1914, is hereby revoked.

3.—(1) Subject to the provisions of sub-article (2) of this Article, the Taxing Officer shall be paid by the Council a fee in accordance with the scale prescribed in the Schedule to this Order for—

(a) each bill of costs taxed by him on or after the date of this Order ;

(b) each bill of costs taxed by him before the date of this Order in respect of which a taxation fee is unpaid at the date of this Order.

(2) For the purpose of calculating the fee payable to the Taxing Officer for taxing costs due by a Council to a solicitor employed by such Council, the costs payable to such solicitor in respect of any one improvement scheme, purchase scheme or compulsory purchase order shall be deemed to be a single bill of costs notwithstanding that the bill or bills furnished in respect of such matters relate to more than one plot of land or more than one title.

(2) Where the number of items in the bill exceed 200, the fee payable shall be £3 for the first 200 items and £1 for every additional 100 items or part thereof.
