TOBACCO (AREAS FOR 1955) ORDER, 1954. | ||
WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (1) of Section 11 of the Tobacco Act, 1934 (No. 37 of 1934), that the Minister for Agriculture shall, after consultation with the Minister for Finance by order (in the said Act referred to as an area order) fix in respect of every year commencing after the 13th day of September, 1934 :— | ||
(a) the maximum total number of acres which may be planted with tobacco in such year ; | ||
(b) the maximum number of acres which may be planted with tobacco in such year by any one person ; and | ||
(c) the minimum area which may be planted with tobacco in such year by any one person, other than a person who satisfies the Minister for Agriculture that he proposes to grow tobacco in such year for experimental purposes ; | ||
AND WHEREAS the Minister for Agriculture has consulted with the Minister for Finance in regard to the making of this Order ; | ||
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES M. DILLON, Minister for Agriculture, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of Section 11 of the Tobacco Act, 1934 (No. 37 of 1934), and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said sub-section and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows, that is to say :— 1. This Order may be cited as the Tobacco (Areas for 1955) Order, 1954. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3.—(1) The maximum total number of acres which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1955 shall be one thousand five hundred acres. | ||
(2) The maximum number of acres which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1955 by any one person shall be six acres. | ||
(3) The minimum area which may be planted with tobacco in the year 1955 by any one person, other than a person who satisfies the Minister for Agriculture that he proposes to grow tobacco in such year for experimental purposes, shall be a half-acre. | ||
