WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY ACT, 1926. WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (BUSINESS RADIO LICENCE) REGULATIONS, 1956.

I, MICHAEL KEYES, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 6 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926 (No. 45 of 1926), and, so far as these Regulations relate to fees, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, by this Order make the following Regulations :—

1. This Order and the Regulations hereby made may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Business Radio Licence) Regulations, 1956, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. In these Regulations " the Principal Regulations " means the Wireless Telegraphy (Business Radio Licence) Regulations, 1949 ( S.I. No. 320 of 1949 ).

4. The paragraphs set out in the Schedule to these Regulations shall be substituted for paragraph (1) of Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations.

5. In the form of Business Radio Licence set out in the First Schedule to the Principal Regulations—

(a) before ' and " the Mobile Station (s) " ' in the first paragraph, there shall be inserted the ' " Repeater Station(s) " " the Fixed Station(s)" ', and

(b) after the references, in the first column of the Statement of Authorised Stations, to Base Station(s) and Mobile Station(s), there shall be added references to Repeater Station(s) and Fixed Station(s).

6. In paragraph 2 of the Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations " or base or repeater " shall be inserted after " fixed."

7. Subparagraphs (1) and (2) of paragraph 4 and paragraph 12 of the Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations are hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE.

(1) A fee shall be payable on the issue and on each renewal of a business radio licence and such fee shall be calculated on the following basis :—

(a) system comprising base and mobile stations only or system comprising mobile stations only : a fixed sum of five pounds plus five pounds for each station,

(b) system comprising base, repeater and mobile stations or mobile and repeater stations : a fixed sum of five pounds plus five pounds for each base station and each mobile station plus twenty pounds in respect of each repeater station,

(c) system comprising two fixed stations only, that is to say, a fixed point-to-point system : a fixed sum of twenty-five pounds plus five pounds for each station,

(d) system comprising two fixed stations with repeater stations, that is to say, a fixed point-to-point system with repeater stations : a fixed sum of twenty-five pounds plus five pounds for each fixed station plus twenty pounds in respect of each repeater station.

(1A) In this Regulation and in the First and Second Schedules to these Regulations—

" wireless station " means any apparatus capable of being used for signalling by means of radiated electro-magnetic waves ;

" mobile station " means a wireless station intended to be used while in motion or during halts at unspecified points ;

" base station " means a wireless station intended to be used at a specified point for the purpose of communication with a mobile station or mobile stations ;

" fixed station " means a wireless station intended to be used at a specified point for the purpose of communication with another such station ;

" repeater station " means a wireless station intended to be used at a specified point for the purpose of enabling the range of transmission of other wireless stations to be increased.
