Examinations.

41.—(1) An apprenticeship committee shall from time to time arrange, through An Chomhairle, with the Minister for Education for the holding, for persons employed by way of apprenticeship in the trade for which the committee is established and in the district of the committee, of—

(a) a junior examination for persons who have completed approximately half their periods of apprenticeship, and

(b) a senior examination for persons who arc nearing the completion of, or have completed, those periods.

(2) (a) The subjects to be included in, and the standard for, examinations under this section shall be determined by the Minister for Education after consultation with the apprenticeship committee concerned.

(b) Examinations under this section shall include practical tests.

(3) The conditions governing entry for examinations under this section shall be determined by the apprenticeship committee concerned after consultation with the Minister for Education.

(4) A person who fails an examination under this section may, at the discretion of the apprenticeship committee concerned, be allowed to undergo such examination again.
