S.I. No. 6/1962 - Garda Síochána (Representative Bodies) Regulations, 1927 (Amendment) Regulations, 1962.

I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 14 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and with the approval of the Government, hereby make the following Regulations :

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Siochana (Representative Bodies) Regulations, 1927 (Amendment) Regulations, 1962.

(2) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 31st day of December, 1961.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Notwithstanding paragraph 15 of the Garda Siochana (Representative Bodies) Regulations, 1927—

(a) the Representative Bodies that are provided for by paragraph 1 of those Regulations and that held office on the 31st day of December, 1961, shall continue to hold office until the 31st day of March, 1962, and

(b) the elections in the year 1962, under paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 of those Regulations, shall be held in the month of April of that year.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide that the present Garda Representative Bodies shall continue to hold office up to the 31st March, 1962 (instead of 31st December, 1961), and that the elections for the new Bodies shall be held in April, 1962 (instead of January, 1962).
