IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 143) (MISCELLANEOUS CUSTOMS DUTIES) ORDER, 1964.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and section 22 of the Finance Act, 1962 (No. 15 of 1962), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 143) (Miscellaneous Customs Duties) Order, 1964.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 10th day of March, 1964.

3. The Imposition of Duties (No. 128) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1962 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution for the matter in the first column of the Schedule at tariff heading number 39.07 (T) of the following :

" Polyethylene film of a thickness not exceeding five thousandths of an inch, including such film in the form of tubes obtained by sealing but excluding artificial sausage casings,"

(b) the deletion in the third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 48.01 (A) (1) of " plus

5%,"

(c) the deletion in the third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 48.07 (E) of "plus

5%,"

(d) the deletion of Notes 5 and 6 in Chapter 82 of the Schedule,

(e) the substitution in the first column of the Schedule at tariff heading number 83.06 (A) for " brass " of " nonferrous metal,"

(f) the deletion of the matter in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 83.06 (B),

(g) the insertion in the first column of the Schedule at tariff heading number 83.06 (B) of—" (1) Articles suitable for domestic use, of wrought iron

(2) Other ,"

(h) the insertion in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 83.06 (B) (1) (inserted by this Order) of " (a)," " 45% ", " 45% " and " 30%", respectively,

(i) the insertion in the third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 83.06 (B) (2) (inserted by this Order) of " Free," " Free " and " Free," respectively,

(j) the substitution for the matter in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 98.01 (C) of " Metal cuff links," "(a)," " 45%," " 45% " and " 30%," respectively, and

(k) the insertion in the first, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule after tariff heading number 98.01 (C) of "(D) Other," " Free," " Free" and " Free," respectively.

4. The Imposition of Duties (No. 131) (Reduction of Rates of Customs Duties) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 214 of 1962 ), and the Imposition of Duties (No. 142) (Reduction of Rates of Customs Duties) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 262 of 1963 ), shall apply and have effect in relation to goods to which this Order applies as if this Order had come into operation immediately before the 1st day of January, 1963.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for amendments in the customs duties in relation to domestic holloware, metal cufflinks, polyethylene film, paper felt, and tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks.
