ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1965. | ||
The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the power conferred on him by sections 5 , 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and, as respects sub-article (2) of article 6 on the application of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and as respects sub-article (1) of article 6 after consultation with the said Commissioner and each road authority concerned, hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (Amendment) Regulations, 1965. | ||
(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1963 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963 and 1965. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1965. 3. In these Regulations " Principal Regulations " means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963. 4.—(1) The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended in the manner specified in Schedule A to these Regulations. | ||
(2) The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the roads described in Schedule B to these Regulations. 5.—(1) The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended in the manner specified in Schedule C to these Regulations. | ||
(2) The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the roads described in Schedule D to these Regulations. 6.—(1) The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended in the manner specified in Schedule E to these Regulations. | ||
(2) The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended by the addition thereto of the roads described in Schedule F to these Regulations. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963. The effect of the amendments is to vary the roads to which the 30 and 40 m.p.h. speed limits under the Road Traffic Act, 1961 apply and in certain cases to vary the speed limit which applies to particular roads. The majority of the roads affected are heavily trafficked main roads. |
