IMPORTATION OF CARCASES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (PROHIBITION) ORDER, 1966. | ||
I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in excercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 10 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows : 1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966. 2. This Order shall come into operation on the 6th day of September, 1966. 3. In this Order— | ||
" animal " means any bovine animal, sheep, goat or other ruminating animal, horse or swine; | ||
" animal products " means the following products, namely, meat meal, meat and bone meal, bone meal, bone flour, hoof and horn meal, blood meal and dried blood or any product containing any of the aforesaid products and also any product derived from the meat of an animal including in particular fat (whether rendered or otherwise), lard, meat extract or oil (whether processed or unprocessed) so derived; | ||
" carcase " means the carcase of an animal and, subject to Article 5, includes part of a carcase, and the meat, bones, hide, blood, skin, hair, hooves, horns, offal or other part of an animal other than wool, wool grease and fatty substances derived from wool grease. 4. Subject to Article 5, this Order applies to any carcase or animal product and to any other product, whether uncooked, cooked or otherwise processed, containing meat or offal of an animal. 5. This Order shall not apply to the carcases or products mentioned in the First Schedule hereto as respects which the requirements, if any, mentioned in that Schedule have been fulfilled. 6. The importation of any carcase, animal product or other product to which this Order applies is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence granted in that behalf by the Minster for Agriculture and Fisheries. 7. The Orders mentioned in the Second Schedule to this Order are hereby revoked. | ||
FIRST SCHEDULE | ||
Carcases and Products Referred to in Article 5. | ||
1. Any carcase, animal product or other product mentioned in Article 4 which is shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have originated in and to have been imported direct from Northern Ireland. | ||
2. Sheep or lamb skins with the wool on. | ||
3. Leather. | ||
4. Hides or skins which have been shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have originated in Great Britain, the the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, which have been either (a) wet-salted or (b) dried and dry-salted and which are accompanied by a declaration by the consignor or an official Government certificate to the effect that they have been so wet-salted or dried and dry-salted. | ||
5. Hides or skins which have been shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have originated in any country outside the Continent of Europe, which have been (a) wet-salted or (b) dried and dry-salted and which are accompanied by an official Government certificate to the effect that they have been so wet-salted or dried and dry-salted. | ||
6. Fell-mongered cow hair, horse hair and goat hair and pigs' bristles dressed, bunched and sorted which are accompanied by a declaration from the consignor, bearing an official Government endorsement to the effect that the hair or bristles have been pulled from hides or skins which have been treated with the lime process or with the chemical process to prevent the transmission of animal disease. | ||
7. Carded or combed animal hair. | ||
8. Hornplates. | ||
9. Bone charcoal | ||
10. Bone phosphates. | ||
11. Rennet. | ||
12. Sera and antisera. | ||
