LIMERICK COUNTY BOROUGH ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1967.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by subsection (2) of
section 7
of the
Limerick City Management Act, 1934
(No. 35 of 1934), as substituted by
section 87
of the
Electoral Act, 1963
(No. 19 of 1963) hereby orders as follows :—
1. This Order may be cited as the Limerick County Borough Electoral Areas Order, 1967.
2. In this Order the " Borough " means the county borough of Limerick.
3. The Borough shall be divided into the electoral areas set out in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.
4. (1) Each such electoral area shall consist of the area described in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

(2) In the Schedule to this Order—
|
| |
(a) a reference to a line drawn along any road, river, street, bridge or railway shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of such road, river, street, bridge or railway;
|
| |
(b) a reference to the point at which any road, river, street, bridge or railway is said to intersect or to join any road, river, street, bridge or railway shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other;
|
| |
(c) a reference to the point at which any road, river or railway is said to intersect or to join any boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of such road, river, street or railway intersects or joins such boundary;
|
| |
(d) the expression " the Borough boundary " means the boundary of the county borough of Limerick at the date of this Order.
5. The number of members of the Council of the Borough to be elected for each such electoral area shall be the number set out in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.
6. The number of the said members to be elected for each such electoral area who are to be aldermen shall be the number set out in the fourth column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

Commencing at the point at which the Ennis Road intersects the Borough boundary; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the Borough boundary to its first junction with the River Shannon; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along the said river to its interesction by the Borough boundary; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the Borough boundary to the starting point.

Commencing at the point at which the Ballysimon Road intersects the Borough boundary; thence in a northwesterly direction along the Ballysimon Road, Blackboy Road, Mulgrave Street and Upper William Street to the junction of Upper William Street and High Street; thence in a northerly direction along High Street and its left fork, Mungret Street, Broad Street and Balls Bridge to its intersection by the Abbey River; thence in a westerly direction along the Abbey River to its junction with the River Shannon; thence commencing in a northerly direction and continuing along the boundary of Electoral Area Number

Commencing at the point at which the Ballysimon Road intersects the Borough boundary; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along the Borough boundary to its intersection by the Limerick—Tralee branch railway; thence in a northeasterly direction along the said railway to its intersection by Carey's Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Carey's Road to its junction with Hyde Road; thence along Hyde Road to its junction with Boherbuoy and Upper Mallow Street; thence in a north-westerly direction along Upper Mallow Street, Mallow Street, Lower Mallow Street and the imaginary north-westerly projection of the centre line of Lower Mallow Street to the point on the River Shannon at which such projection intersects the boundary of Electoral Area Number One; thence in a north-easterly direction along the boundary of Electoral Area Number One to its first junction with the boundary of Electoral Area Number Two; thence commencing in an easterly direction and continuing along the boundary of Electoral Area Number Two to the starting point.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
|
| |
This Order divides the County Borough of Limerick into four electoral areas for the purposes of local elections and specifies the number of members of the Council of the Borough to be elected for each area and the number of those members who are to be aldermen.
|
