FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (MERCHANT SHIPPING) ORDER, 1968. | ||
I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, by virtue of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows: 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1968. | ||
(2) The Principal Order, the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) (Amendment) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1967 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Orders, 1967 and 1968. 2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 264 of 1967 ). 3. Article 4 of the Principal Order shall be construed and have effect as if, "within the twenty-eight days immediately preceding its arrival at a port in the State" were substituted for "on or after the 31st October 1967". | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
The effect of this Order is to provide that the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1967, shall apply only to vessels which have been in a port in Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man within the twenty-eight days immediately preceding arrival at a port in this country. |
