EXCHANGE CONTROL REGULATIONS, 1968. | ||
I, JOHN LYNCH, Acting Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 30 and 31 of the Exchange Control Act, 1954 (No. 30 of 1954), as continued by the Exchange Control (Continuance) Act, 1966 (No. 27 of 1966), hereby make the following regulations : 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Exchange Control Regulations, 1968. | ||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 2nd day of December, 1968. | ||
(3) The Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 to 1967, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 to 1968. 2. The Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association, 26-27 Grafton Street, Dublin, the Chase and Bank of Ireland (International), Limited, 10 College Green, Dublin, the American Express International Banking Corporation, 116 Grafton Street, Dublin, and the Allied Irish Investment Bank, Limited, 38 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin, are each hereby appointed to be an authorised dealer. 3. The Second Schedule to the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 (inserted by the Exchange Control Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1967 )), is hereby amended by the insertion of " Mauritius ", " Southern Yemen, the People's Republic of " and " Swaziland ". 4. So much of Regulation 3 of the Exchange Control (No. 2) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 252 of 1966 ), as relates to the American Express Company Incorporated and Regulation 4 of the Exchange Control Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1967 ), are hereby revoked. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
These Regulations amend the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 by appointing the following to be authorised dealers for the purposes of the Exchange Control Acts :— Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association; Chase and Bank of Ireland (International), Limited; Allied Irish Investment Bank Limited (formerly Allied Irish Investment Corporation Limited) and the American Express International Banking Corporation (formerly the American Express Company Incorporated). | ||
The list of Scheduled Territories is also amended by the addition of Mauritius, Swaziland and the People's Republic of Southern Yemen These territories, which are now independent, had been included in the general heads for British territories. |
