SOCIAL WELFARE (CONTRIBUTIONS) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1969.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and by section 9 of that Act as amended by section 4 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960), hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Contributions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1969.

(2) The Social Welfare (Contributions) Regulations, 1953 to 1968, the Social Welfare (Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1969 ), and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Contributions) Regulations, 1953 to 1969.

2. In these Regulations " the Principal Regulations " means the Social Welfare (Contributions) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1953 ).

3. Sub-article (2) of Article 13A (inserted by the Social Welfare (Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1961 ( S.I. No. 139 of 1961 )) of the Principal Regulations, as amended by the Social Welfare (Contributions) Regulations, 1953 to 1968, is hereby further amended to the extent that the amount of a contribution paid in respect of a contribution week commencing on or after the 5th day of January, 1970, to be returned to an insured person under sub-article (1) of this article shall be—

(a) in respect of an employment contribution paid under paragraph 1, paragraph 3A, paragraph 6 or paragraph 7 of the Second Schedule to the Act

(b) in respect of an employment contribution paid under paragraph 2 of the Second Schedule to the Act

(c) in respect of an employment contribution paid under paragraph 2A or paragraph 3 of the Second Schedule to the Act

(d) in respect of a voluntary contribution paid at the rate of 10s 10d

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1969 , provides for, inter alia, increased rates of insurance contributions with effect from the 5th January, 1970. These regulations provide for the return to a person, who entered insurance after the age of 60, and who was not insured before the age of 60 under the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1952, of the amount of the increased rates paid in respect of old age (contributory) pension.
