VOCATIONAL EDUCATIONAL COMMITTEES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS), (AMENDMENT) RULES, 1975. | ||
I, RICHARD BURKE, Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 (4) of the Vocational Education (Amendment) Act, 1947 (No. 1 of 1947), as amended by section 5 of the Vocational Education (Amendment) Act, 1962 (No. 28 of 1962), hereby make the following Rules: 1. These Rules may be cited as the Vocational Education Committees (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Rules, 1975. 2. These Rules shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 19th day of June, 1974. 3. In these Rules "The Rules of 1972" means the Vocational Education Committees (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Rules, 1972 ( S.I. No. 313 of 1972 ). 4. The Vocational Education Committees (Allowances to Members) Rules 1963 ( S.I. No. 114 of 1963 ), are hereby amended by:— | ||
( a ) the substitution of "two pounds twenty-five new pence" for "one pound sixty new pence" (inserted by the Rules of 1972) in Rule 3 (a), and | ||
( b ) the substitution of "three pounds twenty-five new pence" for "two pounds twenty-five new pence" (inserted by the Rules of 1972) in Rule 3 (b), and | ||
( c ) the substitution of "three pounds fifty new pence" for "two pounds fifty new pence" (inserted by the Rules of 1972) in Rule 4, | ||
and Rules 3 and 4 of the first mentioned Rules, as amended by this rule, are set out in the following Table: | ||
Rule 3. The amount of an allowance payable under paragraph (a) of subsection (4) of section 6 of the Act of 1947 by a county committee to a member of the county committee or of an approved sub-committee of the county committee shall be:— | ||
( a ) two pounds twenty-five new pence in the case of a continuous period of not less than three hours but less than seven hours; | ||
( b ) three pounds twenty-five new pence in the case of a continuous period of not less than seven hours. | ||
Rule 4. Where a resolution under clause (ii) of paragraph (d) (inserted by section 5 of the Vocational Education (Amendment) Act, 1962 (No. 28 of 1962)) of sub-section 4 of section 6 of the Act of 1947 is in force in relation to a county committee or an approved sub-committee of the county committee, the amount of the allowance which the county committee shall pay to a member of the county committee or approved sub-committee who:— | ||
( a ) attended a meeting of the county committee or approved sub-committee at a place less than five miles by any route from his residence, and | ||
( b ) was obliged by reason of such attendance to remain away from his home for a continuous period of not less than three hours, | ||
shall be an amount not exceeding three pounds fifty new pence. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
These rules govern the payment of allowances to members of county vocational education committees and of approved sub-committees of such county committees in respect of their attendance at meetings of the county committees or approved sub-committees. |
