THE SOLICITORS ACTS 1954 AND 1960 (APPRENTICES' FEES) REGULATIONS, 1978. | ||||||||||||||
The Incorporated Law Society of Ireland in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 5 and 82 of the Solicitors Act 1954 and of every other power thereunto them enabling and with the concurrence of the President of the High Court hereby make the following Regulations. 1. On and after the date on which these Regulations shall come into operation, the fees specified in the Schedule hereto shall be paid to the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland by the petitioner or applicant in respect of the courses and examinations laid down in the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprenticeship and Education) Regulations 1975 ( S.I. No. 66 of 1975 ) hereinafter referred to as "the New Regulations". 2. Articles 6, 7, 10 and 11 of the Schedule to the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices' Fees) Regulations 1977 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1977 ) will not apply to the first, second and third parts of the Final Examination under the New Regulations and the separate Book-keeping examination will not be taken by students pursuing courses under the New Regulations. Article 12 of said Schedule will not apply to courses under the New Regulations. 3. These Regulations may be cited as the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices' Fees) Regulations 1978; they shall be read with the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices' Fees) Regulations 1977 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1977 ) and shall in so far as they are inconsistent therewith alter and amend the same. Both Regulations may be cited collectively as the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices' Fees) Regulations 1977—1978. 4. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October 1978. | ||||||||||||||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||||||||||||||
This Instrument, together with the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices Fees) Regulations 1977 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1977 ), specifies the fees payable to the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland by students seeking to qualify as solicitors in the State under "the New Regulations" The fee for the Professional Course is £900 and the fee for the Advanced Course is £150 making a total of £1,050 for the new courses. | ||||||||||||||
The fees for attending examinations under the New Regulations remain virtually unchanged. Apart from the fee of £20 to attend the Preliminary examination and assuming that the student does not have occasion to repeat any examination, he or she will pay the following examination fees:— | ||||||||||||||

The fees payable to the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland relating to registration are set out in articles 1, 5 and 13 of the Schedule to the Solicitors Acts 1954 and 1960 (Apprentices' Fees) Regulations 1977 and are as follows:— | ||||||||||||||
