MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS ACT, 1978 (ESTABLISHMENT DAY) ORDER, 1979.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 (No. 4 of 1978), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 (Establishment Day) Order, 1979.

2. The 26th day of April, 1979 shall be the establishment day for the purposes of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to provide that the Medical Council will be established on 26th April, 1979 and assume its functions under the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 in regard to the registration and control of persons engaged in the practice of medicine and that the Medical Registration Council shall be dissolved on the same date.
