MAXIMUM PRICES (CHICKENS) (No. 3) ORDER, 1979.

The Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), and the Industry and Commerce (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1977 ), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Chickens) (No. 3) Order, 1979, and shall come into operation on the 17th day of December, 1979.

2. The maximum prices at which chickens (other than live chickens and cooked chickens) may be sold by retail shall be—

( a ) in the case of chickens sold by imperial measure—

(i) 72p per lb. if sold with giblets, or

(ii) 74p per lb. if sold without giblets,

( b ) in the case of chickens sold by metric measure—

(i) 159p per kilogram if sold with giblets, or

(ii) 163p per kilogram if sold without giblets.

3. Where a wrapping purports to contain a chicken of not less than a specified minimum weight, it shall for the purposes of this Order be deemed to contain a chicken of that weight.

4. The Maximum Prices (Chickens) (No. 2) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 206 of 1979 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail prices as shown in the Order which may be charged for chickens.
