TELEPHONE (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1982.

I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, hereby make, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Telephone (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1982.

(2) The Telephone Regulations, 1980 and 1981 and these Regulations may be cited together as the Telephone Regulations, 1980 to 1982.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st Day of April, 1982.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. In these Regulations "the Regulations of 1981" means the Telephone (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1981 ( S.I. No. 294 of 1981 ).

5. The Telephone Regulations, 1980, are hereby amended by:

( a ) the substitution of the following Schedule for the First Schedule thereto (inserted by Regulation 5 (a) of the Regulations of 1981):

"FIRST SCHEDULE

Regulation 9

Charges for Local Calls

To a subscriber:

( a ) if he rents an exchange line without a coinbox

8.5p per call

( b ) if he rents an exchange line with a coinbox from which subscriber dialled trunk calls cannot be made

9.5p per call

( c ) if he rents an exchange line with a coinbox from which subscriber dialled trunk calls can be made

per call as follows:

9.5p for the first, second, third and fourth five-minute period, 4.75p for the fifth five-minute period and this cycle repeated for subsequent five-minute periods.

To a caller

( a ) from an exchange line with a coinbox or a call office from which subscriber dialled trunk calls cannot be made

10p per call

( b ) from an exchange line with a coinbox or a call office from which subscriber dialled trunk calls can be made

per call as follows:

10p for the first, second, third and fourth five-minute period, 5p for the fifth five-minute period and this cycle repeated for subsequent five-minute periods.

( b ) the substitution of the following Schedule for the Second Schedule thereto (inserted by Regulation 5 (b) of the Regulations of 1981):

"SECOND SCHEDULE

Regulation 10

Charges for Subscriber Dialled Trunk Calls

In respect of each period or part of a period of time specified in the Table to this Schedule which is appropriate to the call and during which the call continues—

( a ) the sum of 8.5p shall be charged to a subscriber without a coinbox,

( b ) the sum of 9.5p shall be charged to a subscriber with a coinbox for the first, second, third and fourth period of time, the sum of 4.75p for the fifth period of time and if the length of the call exceeds those periods combined, the aforementioned cycle of payment shall apply to such further time as the call continues,

( c ) the sum of 10p shall be paid or placed in the coinbox by a caller from a call office or coinbox exchange line for the first, second, third and fourth period of time, 5p for the fifth period of time and if the length of the call exceeds those periods combined, the aforementioned cycle of payment shall apply to such further time as the call continues.

Calls between exchanges in the State and from exchanges in the State to exchanges in Northern Ireland.

Calls from exchanges in the State to exchanges in Great Britain, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Charges for Trunk Calls ( other than Subscriber Dialled Trunk Calls) made from a Call Office or from a Coinbox Exchange Line.

In respect of every call

( a ) made by a subscriber who rents an exchange line with a coinbox there shall be charged to the subscriber and paid by him, the charges stated in the table below, less ½p.

( b ) made by a caller from a call office or from a coinbox exchange line, there shall be charged and paid or placed in the coinbox the charges as stated in the table below.
