DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR FEES (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1984.

I, PETER BARRY, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Act, 1939 (No. 31 of 1939), as adapted by the External Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1971 ), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1984.

(2) The collective citation "the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations, 1982 to 1984" shall include these Regulations

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1985.

2. The Second Schedule to the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations 1982 ( S.I. No. 344 of 1982 ), as amended by the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 44 of 1984 ), is hereby amended by the substitution of the following Part for Part I:

"PART I

Travel Documents and Documents of identity.

For the renewal of a passport, for each year of renewal

For each additional year of validity of a passport specified at 3 (a), provided the person remains within the qualifying age

For the endorsement or change of a passport subsequent to its issue:

(a) Where the endorsement or change involves the issue of a new passport booklet

(b) Where the endorsement or change does not involve the issue of a new passport booklet, for each item endorsed or changed

5.

For the issue of a new passport for the unexpired period of validity of an existing valid passport returned for cancellation:

(a) new 32 page passport

(b) new 96 page passport

(c) new 96 page passport where the passport returned for cancellation is a 32 page passport

For the issue of an emergency travel document

For affixing the finger prints of a merchant seaman to a seaman's identity card and for endorsing same

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to provide for changes or endorsements to the new more secure passport, since certain changes will require the issue of a new passport booklet.
