OMBUDSMAN ACT, 1980 (FIRST SCHEDULE) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1985.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 4 (10) of the Ombudsman Act, 1980 (No. 26 of 1980), and after consultation with the Ombudsman, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Ombudsman Act, 1980 (First Schedule) (Amendment) Order, 1985.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1985.

2. Part II of the First Schedule to the Ombudsman Act, 1980 (No. 26 of 1980), is hereby amended—

( a ) by the insertion after "the Post Office Users' Council" of:

"the Postal Services Users' Council

the Telecommunications Service Users' Council",

and

( b ) by the insertion after "the Army Pensions Board" of:

"The reference in the said Part I to the Department of the Environment does not include a reference to—

the Rent Tribunal

The reference in the said Part I to the Department of Energy does not include a reference to—

the Mining Board

The reference in the said Part I to the Department of Social Welfare does not include a reference to—

the Secretariat to the Commission on Social Welfare".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order places the Postal Services Users' Council, the Telecommunications Service Users' Council, the Rent Tribunal, the Mining Board and the Secretariat to the Commission on Social Welfare in Part II of the First Schedule to the Ombudsman Act, 1980 , with effect from 1 April, 1985. The bodies listed in Part II of the First Schedule are not subject to investigation by the Ombudsman.
