INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 29) SCHEME, 1985.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) and with the consent of the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 29) Scheme, 1985.

(2) This Scheme shall come into operation on the 25th day of February, 1985.

2. In this Scheme—

"the Principal Warrant" means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 );

"Warrant No. 27" means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 27) Warrant, 1982 ( S.I. No. 58 of 1982 ).

3. In this Scheme the expression "Periodical" means a publication which is within the definition for Newspapers outlined in Section 20 of the Post Office Act, 1908 and Regulation 7 of the Principle Warrant with the exception "that it be published in numbers at intervals of not more than three months."

4. Regulation 23 (2) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "eighty seven new pence" [inserted by Regulation 3 of the Warrant No. 27] of "one hundred pence".

5. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 4 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 5 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 6 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant.

8. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 7 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.

9. The Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 8 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Fifth Schedule to this Warrant.

10. Regulation 7 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1953 ), as amended by Regulation 9 of Warrant No. 27, is hereby amended by the substitution for "seventy new pence" of "ninety pence".

11. Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1953 [inserted by Regulation 12 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 19) Warrant, 1974 ( S.I. No. 280 of 1974 )] is hereby amended by the substitution of "one penny per item plus an annual charge of twenty five pounds" for "one new penny".

"Express Delivery Service

Conveyance by special messenger of a postal packet throughout the whole of the service demanded or through part only of its course in the post.	For delivery in Ireland a minimum charge of 50p plus at the rate of 100p for each 1.6 km or part thereof. These charges also include express delivery items sent for delivery to Britain.
Writing down of Express message received by telephone.	A fee (in addition to the appropriate telephone fee and appropriate distance fee) of 50p.

FOURTH SCHEDULE

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Scheme applies to the Inland Post service and comes into operation on the 25th February, 1985. It authorises increases in the letter, postcard, printed packet, newspaper, sample packet and parcel post rates of postage and in the fees charged for the express delivery, registration, customs clearance, cash on delivery, business reply and other miscellaneous services.
