INTERNATIONAL CARRIAGE OF GOODS BY ROAD ACT, 1990 (CMR CONTRACTING PARTIES) ORDER, 1991. | ||||||||||||||||||||
I, SÉAMUS BRENNAN, Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (2) of the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (No. 13 of 1990), as adapted by the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 25 of 1991 ), and after consultation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Parties) Order, 1991. 2. It is hereby declared— | ||||||||||||||||||||
( a ) that the states specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order are Contracting Parties to CMR (that is to say, the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road done at Geneva on the 19th day of May, 1956, as amended by the Protocol done at Geneva on the 5th day of July, 1978), and | ||||||||||||||||||||
( b ) that the declarations (the texts of which in the English language are set out Part II of the said Schedule) have been made by the United Kingdom pursuant to Article 46 of CMR to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. | ||||||||||||||||||||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||||||||||||||||||||
This Order, made by the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications after consultation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, specifies the 18 Contracting Parties (including the State) to CMR, that is the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road as amended by the 1978 Protocol thereto, and sets out the text of the declarations made by the United Kingdom that CMR extends also to certain territories for the international relations of which it is responsible. Those declarations were supplemented by specific declarations made by the United Kingdom under Article 7 of the Protocol that the Protocol extends also to those territories. | ||||||||||||||||||||
There are 6 Contracting Parties to the Convention only, namely, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Yugoslavia. | ||||||||||||||||||||
