EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (CUSTOMS AND EXCISE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1991.

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive No. 91/191/EEC of 27th March, 1991*, hereby make the following Regulations.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Customs and Excise) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1991.

2. The Schedule to the European Communities (Customs and Excise) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 57 of 1991 ), is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraph 4 (2) of "£72" for "£65".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations increase from £65 to £72 the value of any single item which may be imported free of duty of tax under the travellers' allowances available to persons who have been outside the State for less than 24 hours.
