LABOUR (ALTERATION OF NAME OF DEPARTMENT AND TITLE OF MINISTER) ORDER, 1993.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Labour (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1993.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of January, 1993.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Saothair and, in the English language, the Department of Labour, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Comhionannais agus Athchóirithe Dlí and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Equality and Law Reform.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is in the Irish language, an tAire Saothair and, in the English language, the Minister for Labour, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Comhionannais agus Athchóirithe Dlí and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Equality and Law Reform.

4. In any enactment—

( a ) references to the Department of Labour shall be construed as references to the Department of Equality and Law Reform;

( b ) references to the Minister for Labour shall be construed as references to the Minister for Equality and Law Reform.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Labour to that of the Department of Equality and Law Reform and the title of the Minister for Labour to that of the Minister for Equality and Law Reform.
