ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (ADVISORY COMMITTEE) REGULATIONS, 1993. | ||
The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6 , 27 (5) and 27 (16) of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 (No. 7 of 1992), hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Protection Agency (Advisory Committee) Regulations, 1993. 2. In these Regulations:— | ||
"the Act" means the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992 ; | ||
"Advisory Committee" means the Advisory Committee provided for in section 27 of the Act. 3. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27 (5) (a) of the Act shall be— | ||
( a ) The Agricultural Science Association, | ||
( b ) The County and City Managers' Association, | ||
( c ) The Institute of Chemistry of Ireland, | ||
( d ) The Institution of Engineers of Ireland, | ||
( e ) The Institution of Water and Environmental Management — Republic of Ireland Branch, | ||
( f ) The Irish Planning Institute Limited, | ||
( g ) The Royal Town Planning Institute, Irish Branch — Southern Section, and | ||
( h ) The Irish Society of Medical Officers of Health. 4. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27 (5) (b ) of the Act shall be— | ||
( a ) Bord Fáilte Éireann, | ||
( b ) Earthwatch, | ||
( c ) ECO — The Irish Environmental Conservation Organisation for Youth and UNESCO Clubs, | ||
( d ) Greenpeace Ireland Limited, | ||
( e ) The Irish Women's Environmental Network, and | ||
( f ) An Taisce — the National Trust for Ireland. 5. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27 (5) (c) of the Act shall be— | ||
( a ) The Federation of Irish Chemical Industries, | ||
( b ) The Industrial Development Authority, | ||
( c ) The Irish Business and Employers Confederation, | ||
( d ) The Irish Congress of Trade Unions, | ||
( e ) The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association, and | ||
( f ) The Irish Farmers' Association. 6. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27 (5) (d) of the Act shall be— | ||
( a ) Aontacht Cumann Riartha Aitreabhthoírí (A.C.R.A.), | ||
( b ) The Association of Municipal Authorities in Ireland, | ||
( c ) The Council for the Status of Women, | ||
( d ) The General Council of County Councils, | ||
( e ) The Irish Countrywomen's Association, | ||
( f ) Muintir Na Tire, | ||
( g ) The National Association of Tenants' Organisations, and | ||
( h ) The National Youth Council of Ireland. 7. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27 (5) (e) of the Act shall be— | ||
( a ) The Central Fisheries Board, | ||
( b ) The Industry Research and Development Group, | ||
( c ) The Marine Institute, | ||
( d ) The Royal Dublin Society, | ||
( e ) The Royal Irish Academy, | ||
( f ) Teagasc, and | ||
( g ) The Universities Research Group on the Environment. 8. Where a request is made to prescribed organisations pursuant to section 27 (7) of the Act the organisations shall, before the expiration of six weeks commencing on the day on which the request is made, inform the Minister of the names of the candidates selected and of the reasons why, in the opinion of the organisations, they are suitable for such appointment and shall send to the Minister a curriculum vitae in relation to each candidate together with a written consent of each candidate to the selection of that candidate in accordance with the request. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
These Regulations prescribe the various organisations for the purposes of selecting candidates for consideration for appointment by the Minister as members of the Advisory Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency and deal with related matters. |
