DUBLIN (PARKING OF BUSES) TRAFFIC AND PARKING TEMPORARY RULES, 1993. | ||
I, Deputy Commissioner PATRICK J. MORAN, Acting Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 90 (7) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) (as adapted by the Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 269 of 1977 )), with the consent of the Minister for the Environment, hereby make the following temporary rules in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Dublin and the administrative county of Dublin, including the borough of Dún Laoghaire and the town of Balbriggan: 1. These Rules may be cited as the Dublin (Parking of Buses) Traffic and Parking Temporary Rules, 1993. 2. These Rules shall come into operation on the 16th day of November, 1993. 3. In these Rules— | ||
"bus" means a large public service vehicle; | ||
"information plate" means a plate of the type authorised by and described in paragraph 4 of Part VI of the First Schedule to the Regulations of 1962; | ||
"traffic sign number 213" means the traffic sign authorised by and described in section D(e) of Part III of the First Schedule to the Regulations of 1962; | ||
"the Regulations of 1962" means the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 ( S.I. No. 171 of 1962 ). 4. These Rules apply to the area comprising the county borough of Dublin and the administrative county of Dublin, including the borough of Dún Laoghaire and the town of Balbriggan. 5. (1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) of this Rule, a vehicle other than a bus shall not be parked on that portion of a roadway where traffic sign number 213, with an information plate attached thereto containing the words "EXCEPT BUSES", and indicating the days and hours when the exception to the prohibition for buses applies, is provided. | ||
(2) A bus parked on that portion of a roadway to which paragraph (1) of this Rule applies shall not be parked for a period exceeding two hours from the commencement of such parking. | ||
(3) Where a bus, having been parked in that portion of a roadway where the restriction as provided for in paragraph (1) of this Rule applies, leaves, it may not be parked again in that portion of the roadway within one hour of leaving while the restriction applies. 6. A prohibition or restriction on parking imposed by Rule 5 of these Rules shall not apply to a vehicle being used in connection with the removal of an obstruction to traffic, a fire brigade vehicle, an ambulance or a vehicle being used by a member of the Garda Síochána in the performance of his duty as such member. 7. The driver or other person in charge of a bus shall comply with all directions given by a member of the Garda Síochána in relation to the parking of the bus or its removal from the place where it is parked. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
