ROAD TRAFFIC (BUILT-UP AREA SPEED LIMIT) REGULATIONS, 1994.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Built-up Area Speed Limit) Regulations, 1994.

2. In these Regulations, "built-up area speed limit" has the meaning assigned to it by section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

3. The following vehicles shall be excepted from the built-up area speed limit—

(a) ambulances,

(b) fire brigade vehicles, and

(c) vehicles used by members of the Garda Síochána in the performance of their duties as such members.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations except ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Síochána vehicles, while being used in the course of duty, from the built-up area speed limit.
