SHANNON NAVIGATION (CONSTRUCTION OF VESSELS) (AMENDMENT) BYE-LAWS, 1994. | ||
The Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 3 of the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 (No. 20 of 1990), hereby make the following Bye-laws: 1. (1) These Bye-laws may be cited as the Shannon Navigation (Construction of Vessels) (Amendment) Bye-laws, 1994. | ||
(2) These Bye-laws shall apply to a vessel— | ||
( a ) on the 1st day of June, 1995, where that vessel is first registered on or after that date, and | ||
( b ) on the 1st day of April, 1996, where that vessel has been registered before the 1st day of June, 1995. 2. The Shannon Navigation (Construction of Vessels) Bye-laws, 1992 ( S.I. No. 79 of 1992 ), are hereby amended by the insertion of the following Bye-law after Bye-law 13: | ||
"14. A toilet fitted to a vessel shall be so constructed and fitted as to prevent polluting matter from being discharged or passing into the navigation." | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
Section 3 of the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 empowers the Commissioners of Public Works to make bye-laws for the care, conservation, management, control and maintenance and the regulation of the use of the Shannon Navigation and in relation to the restoration, repair, improvement, extension and development thereof. The Shannon Navigation (Construction of Vessels) Bye-laws, 1992 contain the detailed provisions prescribed by the Commissioners in relation to the construction of vessels using the navigation. The Shannon Navigation (Construction of Vessels) (Amendment) Bye-laws, 1994 contain additional provisions in relation to the fitting of toilets on vessels. |
