The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000), hereby orders as follows: | ||||||||
Citation. | 1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (Sections 18 and 19) (Commencement) Order, 2000. | |||||||
Commencement. | 2. Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000), shall come into operation on 27 September, 2000. | |||||||

This Order provides for the commencement of Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 . | ||||||||
Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 provide for a change in the method of assessment of income from self-employment for claimants of Farm Assist and for certain low-income fishermen on Unemployment Assistance. These provisions include a reduction from 80% to 70% in the rate of gross income assessed, and an increase of £100 in the disregards for qualified children. |
