S.I. No. 339/2000 - Social Welfare Act, 2000 (Part III and Section 28) (Commencement) Order, 2000.

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 12 and 28 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000), hereby orders as follows:

Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (Part III and Section 28) (Commencement) Order, 2000.

Commencement.

2. The 26th day of October, 2000 is hereby appointed as the day on which Part III and section 28 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order provides that Part III and section 28 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 shall come into operation from the 26th October, 2000.

Part III and section 28 provide for the introduction of the new social insurance scheme of Carer's Benefit and for amendments to the Carer's Allowance scheme consequential on the introduction of Carer's Benefit.
