S.I. No. 242/2001 - Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 3) (Sharing of Information) Regulations, 2001
The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 (as amended by section 9 of the Social Welfare Act, 2001 (No. 5 of 2001)), 223D, 223E and 223G (all inserted by section 32 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000)) of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993) hereby makes the following Regulations: | ||||||
Citation and construction. | 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 3) (Sharing of Information) Regulations, 2001. | |||||
(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 to 2001 shall be construed together as one and may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 to 2001. | ||||||
Amendment of regulations. | 2. The Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 ( S.I. No. 417 of 1994 ) are hereby amended by the insertion after article 106 of the following article: | |||||

These Regulations prescribe the information which a specified body may be required to share with the Department of Education and Science in relation to the use of the Personal Public Service Number as a unique student identifier at all levels of the education system. | ||||||
In addition, information which may be shared in relation to a person between the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs and any other specified body for the purposes of seeking or giving that person's Personal Public Service Number, is specified. | ||||||
The Regulations also specify the information which may be shared between the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs and Local Authorities in relation to tenancies supported through the Supplementary Welfare Allowance system in order to assist those authorities in carrying out their statutory responsibilities in relation to private rented accommodation. |
