S.I. No. 548/2001 - Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 6) (Widowed Parent Grant) Regulations, 2001

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 (as amended by section 9 of the Social Welfare Act, 2001 (No. 5 of 2001)) and 116A (inserted by section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 , (No. 4 of 2000)) of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993) hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and construction.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 6) (Widowed Parent Grant) Regulations, 2001.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 to 2001 shall be construed together as one and may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations 1994 to 2001.

Commencement.

2. These Regulations come into operation on 5 December 2001.

Widowed parent grant.

3. The Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994, ( S.I. No. 417 of 1994 ) are amended by the insertion in Part VI after Chapter 5 (inserted by article 5 of the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations, 2001 ( S.I. No. 132 of 2001 )) of the following Chapter:

“CHAPTER 6

Widowed Parent Grant

Widowed parent grant.

139.— The higher amount prescribed for the purposes of section 116A is EUR 2,500.”.

This Regulation provides for an increase in the Widowed Parent Grant from £1,000 to EUR 2,500 (£1,968.91), with effect from the 5th of December 2001, as announced in Budget 2002.
