S.I. No. 663/2003 - Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Superfecta) Regulations, 2003

Bord na gCon in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sub-section (3) of Section 40 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958) hereby makes the following regulations which shall constitute the terms of contract on which bets may be made and accepted on the superfecta totalisator pool, that is to say:-

DEFINITIONS

1. In these Regulations:-

(a) “Superfecta Pool” means a pool for nominating the winning greyhound, the second greyhound, the third greyhound and the fourth greyhound in the order of finish in a race.

(b) “Combination” means a bet in the Superfecta Pool in which the person making the bet nominates the numbers of the selected greyhounds in the manner required by the pool.

“Winning Combination” means the nomination of the winning greyhound, the second greyhound, the third greyhound and the fourth greyhound in the order of finish.

(d) “Third Placed Greyhound” means the third greyhound in the order of finish.

(e) “Fourth Placed Greyhound” means the fourth greyhound in the order of finish.

NUMBER OF RUNNERS

2. Superfecta Pools shall only be held on races that have at lease five (5) advertised runners.

CALCULATION OF DIVIDENDS IN SUPERFECTA POOL

3. The dividend in the Superfecta Pool shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the number or units on the winning combination.

DEAD HEAT

(a) In the event of a dead heat for first place in a race, then the tickets bearing the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds together with the third and fourth placed greyhounds in the correct order of finish shall be deemed the winning combinations.

(b) In the event of a dead heat for second place in a race then the tickets bearing the number of the first placed greyhound together with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds, and the fourth placed greyhound in the correct order of finish shall be deemed the winning combinations.

(c) In the event of a dead heat for third place in a race then the tickets bearing the number of the first and second placed greyhounds together with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds in the correct order of finish shall be deemed the winning combinations.

(d) In the event of a dead heat for fourth place in a race then the tickets bearing the number of the first, second and third placed greyhounds together with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds in the correct order of finish shall be deemed the winning combinations.

(e) In the event of a dead heat for first, second third or fourth place the dividends shall be calculated by dividing the net pool into as many equal portions as there are winning combinations. Each portion shall then be divided by the number of units on the winning combination to which it refers.

NO UNIT ON WINNING COMBINATION OR COMBINATIONS

5. If after the completion of a race in the Superfecta Pool there are no winning units on the winning combination or combinations, then the operator may at his discretion carry forward the net pool to be added either in whole or in such parts as the operator may determine to the net pool in the next or a subsequent race in the Superfecta Pool at the same or another Greyhound Race Track as the operator may decide.

WITHDRAWN GREYHOUNDS

(a) If a greyhound is withdrawn from a race after the opening of betting on the race, all bets on the greyhound so withdrawn shall be returnable in full and shall be deducted from the pool.

(b) In the event of the remaining runners amounting to less than five (5) the pool shall be cancelled and all bets staked on that race shall be returnable in full. If a carry over from a previous race has been brought forward to such race then the operator shall administer such carry over as in 5 above.

GENERAL

7. Save as otherwise provided in these Regulations the provisions of the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations 1971 ( no. 47 of 1971 ) shall apply in respect of bets made and accepted on the Superfecta Pool.

CITATION AND COMMENCEMENT

(a) These Regulations may be cited as the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator (Superfecta) Regulations 2003.

(b) These Regulations shall come into operation on 1st day of January, 2004.
