S.I. No. 677/2003 - European Communities (Restrictive Measures) (Liberia) (Amendment) Regulations 2003
I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purposes of giving effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1891/2003 of 27 October 20031 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Restrictive Measures) (Liberia) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 2. The European Communities (Restrictive Measures) (Liberia) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 407 of 2003 ) are amended - | |||||||
(a) by substituting the following for Regulation 2: | |||||||
“2. A person shall not contravene Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2003 of 16 June 20032 as amended by Council Regulation (EC No. 1891/2003 of 27 October 2003.”, | |||||||
and | |||||||
(b) by inserting the following after Regulation 4: | |||||||
“5. An offence under these Regulations may be prosecuted by the Minister.”. | |||||||

The effect of this Order is to amend the Statutory Instrument that provided for penalties for infringements of the EU Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2003 which extended certain restrictive measures in respect of Liberia and introduced a ban on the importation of round logs and timber products originating in Liberia. These amendments give effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1891/2003. | |||||||
